Fishing Exclusion Zones Coming Near You
If you own a shack, a boat or just like fishing, you’re in for a shock.
The SA Government plans to establish ‘Exclusion Zones’ which will make fishing in many popular areas illegal.
About two or three years ago the Department of the Environment went out and asked SA fishermen where we fished. They did this, they said, because they wanted to consult with us on the implementation of so called "sanctuary" or “exclusion” zones, the parts of the coast where fishing would be banned.
Having gone out and found, from the horse’s mouth, exactly where recreational fishers fish, the Department went out and proposed to turn those fishing spots into exclusion zones, and wants to ban recreational fishing off most of the cost of South Australia.
If these zones are allowed to be put in place, rural fishing towns will be devastated and a much loved past time for thousands of South Australians will be decimated – all because of a nonsensical policy driven the extremist ideology of a government department.
